Hey there party people, Linen here. The radio silence that has been going on here has been for three reasons. One: Laziness. Two: Joc and I have been deep in university work. Three: Perhaps most importantly, we have been rethinking the structure of the show since we release the first cast.

The pilotcast was this big lumpy-ass thing we didn’t know what to do with. So we decided to cut the show down. All the best bits of our family gaming time will nicely cut into small pieces for easy consumption. Some may be a few seconds, some may be a few minutes.

Not only will it be less daunting to you, the avid listener, but also will allow us to keep a more regular schedule even when we’re ultra busy.

It’s done! It’s finally done!

The first Monster Hunter Family Time (MHFT from now on for sake of typing boredom) podcast is edited and up for your listening pleasure.

What is the MHFT podcast? Well, It’s Me (Linen), My Pseudowife/Girlfriend (Jax), and her Brother (MaMa (yep MaMa)). We live together, play Monster Hunter together, and talk shit together. Sometimes we hate each other. Sometimes Jax and MaMa just hate me. But most of the time you can relax to the sounds of my awkward-voice, Jax’s constant complaining, and MaMa’s judging silence, as we fight our way through Monsters the way it should be: as a dysfunctional family.

If you want to get involved, ask some questions via our tumblr page. We love questions. They may even feature as a blog post or in the podcast as I attempt to create some sort of structure and content while Jax rolls her eyes and gets killed by Aoshira.

Thirdly: This is our first attempt. It is long. I wanted to keep it fairly unedited the first time to see what you guys like, dislike, or think is missing. We want feedback. We’d love to hear what you guys think. And I apologise in advance for the audio quality, you may need to up the volume after the intro.

You’ve got to love a day where all you have done is play MH.

Linen is helping me catch up (like always) by getting me to finish HR4. I’ve also been told I need to branch out from my dual swords, so I’m testing out a Jinny great sword and a bone switch axe.

Spike is chilling, watching and waiting for Rathian. When Rathian attacks so will she. I have no doubt.

Jax

MaMa got a really cheap used PSP 3000 the other week. “Great!” you say? Not really. It’s in a bit of a mess which is why he got it so cheap. He already sold his old PSP. So, while we wait for the new case and parts to come from China or Hong Kong or wherever, he will be unable to play.

I’ll try and convince him to use my old and “inferior” 1000 - Not much chance of that. Otherwise there may be delays.

Anyway, this is just to keep you informed and will be the last delay apology unless someone asks an intelligent delay related question. I’ll let the updates speak for themselves.

Yes, quite a lot actually. Jinouga is one of our favourite monsters in Monster Hunter, especially for Jax. She calls him “pretty.” I expect it’s because of the lightning and the thunderbugs. I love its personalty. That stalk he does. So awesome.

We haven’t gotten to the high rank one yet but we farmed the low rank Jinny. All three of us have his set and quite a few of his weapons. I think it’s the only fighting set that all three of us have and it gets pretty badass when you see 3 hunters with the force out glow all at once hacking at the monster.

Jax, MaMA, and I have been away from home for a while on holidays. This meant I had to transfer my MHP3 save on to the psp from the ps3-ppsp3peapee. However, being the awesome memory man I am, I forgot.

1 week. Old save. Worse torture ever.

Jax has been on an offline binge. We hit high rank a while ago but she was still on 3 star offline. Upside: she’s getting pretty advanced with the dual swords. Downside: she’ll rarely play with us.

Anyway, it’s 2 days until we make our way home and get the first cast going.

Other news: We’ve been smashing quite a few board games lately. We get quite vocal when playing them and I might experiment with an audiocast of something like Ticket To Ride and see if it works.

We’ll see what happens.
